Walter Thoms é fotógrafo e artista visual que reside na cidade de Curitiba. Seu trabalho é movido pelas possibilidades de construir narrativas através de uma abordagem híbrida, onde explora questões sobre memória, família, deslocamentos e noções de ecologia. Já fez parte de algumas exposições coletivas nacionais e internacionais como a Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporânea de Curitiba no Brasil (2019), da exposição virtual Togethering no Houston Center of Photography nos Estados Unidos (2020) e na exposição Past and Present da Der Greif (2023) na Alemanha.
Tem um interesse especial por fotolivros, publicações, processos de edição e sequenciamento de imagens. Integrou a 2ª edição do fotolivro "Imaginário Cromático" (2013), com a série "O Chamado da Montanha (2010-2013)", com fotografias da série “Margens Indomáveis” integrou o fotolivro “Putrefações” da editora brasileira Selo Turvo (2023) e o fotolivro “Spores: Magical Mushroom Photography” (2023) com organização da editora norte-americana Broccoli Mag. Editou os livros "Huellas" de Ana Sallas (2019), "Avesso do Verso" de Angelo Silva (2020) e colaborou na edição do fotolivro "Leve a sério o que ela diz" de Isa Lanave (2022). Participou da Residência Sergius Erdelyi em Tijucas do Sul no Paraná em 2022 e desde então vem aprimorando seu estudo sobre imagem, exercitando continuamente processos de edição e linguagem. Trabalha com fotografia, vídeo e edição de fotolivros.

Walter Thoms is a Brazilian photographer and visual artist who lives in the city of Curitiba. His work is driven by the possibilities of constructing narratives through a hybrid approach, where she explores questions about memory, family, displacements, and notions of ecology. He has been part of some national and international group exhibitions, such as the International Biennial of Contemporary Art of Curitiba in Brazil (2019), the virtual exhibition Togethering at the Houston Center of Photography in the United States (2020) and the exhibition Past and Present at Der Greif (2023) in Germany.
He has a special interest in photobooks, publications, editing and sequencing processes. He was part of the 2nd edition of the photobook "Imaginário Cromático" (2013), with the series "The Call of the Mountain (2010-2013)", with photographs from the "Unruly Edges" project, he was part of the photobook "Putrefações" by the Brazilian publisher Selo Turvo (2023) and the photobook "Spores: Magical Mushroom Photography" (2023) organized by the North American publisher Broccoli Mag. He edited the books "Huellas" by Ana Sallas (2019), "Avesso do Verso" by Angelo Silva (2020) and collaborated in the edition of the photobook "Take her seriously" by Isa Lanave (2022). He participated in the Sergius Erdelyi Residency at Tijucas do Sul, Paraná in 2022 and since then has been improving his study of image, continuously exercising editing and language processes. He works commercially with photography and video.
